The Brain of Morbius was the tenth adventure in The Fourth Doctor Sourcebook, adapted from the TV story of the same name.

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

The plot follows the television story, with variance depending on how it is played. If the adventurers don't have a Doctor in their group, Morbius can desire anyone's head.

Further Adventures[[edit] | [edit source]]

In the first scenario, Cybermen discover Morbius's brain and put it into a Cyber-Controller suit. The adventurers must stop the powerful Cyber-Morbius.

In the second scenario, Morbius's renegade status may mean that the adventurers encounter him out of order during his height in the Morbius Rebellion.

In the third scenario, Morbius is resurrected by the Time Lords during the Last Great Time War and given a new regeneration cycle. He may have even survived the Time War with a Chameleon Arch.

Characters[[edit] | [edit source]]

Worldbuilding[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • Members of the Cult of Morbius could be on any planet in any world, possibly having Time Lord doomsday weapons stolen from the vaults on Gallifrey.
  • The Morbius Rebellion may be the reason most of the universe is aware of the Time Lords.
  • The adventurers may have an evil Time Lord nemesis who is similar to them. If they are solemn people, their nemesis may be called "The Undertaker" or "The Gravedigger" who views themself as a servant of entropy.
  • One of the adventurers could be a member of the Sisterhood of Karn.
  • The faces seen in the mind battle may be incarnations of Morbius, however they more likely belong to the Doctor. These may be fictitious incarnations, Watchers or potential incarnations, or indeed regular incarnations of the Doctor, either being from before the First Doctor used Time Lord technology to grant himself a new regeneration cycle or from a part part of the Doctor's life after the Second Doctor's trial in which they worked for the Celestial Intervention Agency and eventually had their memory wiped.
  • Much like the Doctor, a Time Lord among the adventurers may have many secret incarnations in their past beyond what seems possible.

Continuity[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • Karn may be a future version of Sarn from TV: Planet of Fire [+]Loading...["Planet of Fire (TV story)"], with the Sisterhood possibly being an evolution of the Logarian faith.
