Mike Acord and Wanda Sue Morain were announced in DWM 131 as the winner of the Doctor Who Design Competition from DWM 113, wherein which readers were invited to submit sketches of what the costumes of a Doctor played by Brian Blessed, a companion played by Meryl Streep and a villain played by John Hurt would look like, alongside a suggestion of a plot set in America featuring all three. This resulted in the publication of Winning Designs, which featured professional art of the resulting "imaginary" Doctor Who characters, the Doctor, the Master and Maggie, and the two were offered the originals of the three painted drawings as their prize.
