In 1590, disguised as a young man named Harry Peerless and posing as Sir Malcome Canker's servant, she was a member of the English delegation sent to the Moon in Iris Wildthyme's TARDIS to open diplomatic relations with the Lunaries. She was secretly the real ambassador while Sir Jack Fuller served as a distraction for England's rivals. While negotiating an alliance with Lady Phoebe, who was similarly in disguise as a male named Phoebus, they entered into a romantic relationship which was condemned by Canker for its apparent homosexuality. Both Iris and her companion Tom found "Harry" attractive, but she turned down both their advances. Tom later accidentally discovered her true gender, but agreed to keep it secret. The true genders and identities of Lady Somerset and Phoebe were later publicly revealed at the reception celebrating the alliance between England and the Lunaries. (PROSE: Minions of the Moon) |
