Clynex was a glowing crystalline creature native to Vortis. When the Animus arrived on Voris, he drained Clynex's energy. Some years later, after the First Doctor had defeat the Animus, Clynex revived and started draining the energy out of all Menoptera around him, killing them. The Doctor destroyed Clynex by exciting his fundamental resonant frequency with his sonic screwdriver, causing it to shatter. (DWM: The Naked Flame)
