In 1492, the Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith accidentally brought the Mandragora Helix to San Martino. The Helix tried to plunge the Earth back into the Dark Ages, but the Doctor defeated it. In the same year, Giuliano became the Duke of San Martino upon the death of his father. After a brief fight for power with his uncle, his legitimacy was confirmed by a grand, public masque. At the party were Lorenzo de Medici, the Duke of Milan, the Doge of Venice and Leonardo da Vinci. (DW: The Masque of Mandragora)
