Quintus Caecilius Iucundus, son of Caecilius and Metella and brother of Evelina, was a young Roman man living in Pompeii in its final days.
Quintus is more willing than the rest of his family to help the strange foreigner who insists that nearly Mount Vesuvius is about to erupt and smother Pompeii. At the Doctor's instruction, Quintus kills a Pyrovile that appears in his family's house. Later, against his parents' express wishes, he guides the Doctor to the house of cult leader Lucius Petrus Dextrus.

- The Caecilius family (Caecilius, Metella and Quintus) were based upon characters used in latin text books. Except for Evelina who was created by James Moran so she could be a member of the Sibylline Sisterhood.
