Unfortunately for the Daleks, they did not realise that the large exoskeletons of these creatures acted as extremely strong armour, even strong enough to resist Dalek firepower. Aside from wildlife, the Daleks were also preyed on by giant carnivore plants. Although the Daleks initial force was totally defeated, suffering far more casualties then expected, the possibility of a second, stronger invasion, threatened the extraordinary planet.
