Atheist?
"This serial establishes that The Doctor is an athiest, also Davros is established as one."
Can someone please explain this in a little more detail? (Part of the reason I'm asking is because a similar claim on the "God" page turned up empty, but whether it's substantiated in this case or not, I'd like to hear more about it.) - Caswin 21:39, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
- I have no idea where this came from it started at this edit here Revision as of 17:28, 28 September 2008.
- I have tried to find where it came from, and thus far failed (have removed it until a source can be cited).
- I can only think of a few places where some jumps could be made to make this assumption (though if far from 'proves it')
- Douglas Adams, was an atheist, he script edited, put stuff in like Oolon Coluphid's origin of the universe, the Doctor says "he should have asked someone who was there". (Okay that states that the Doctor saw the origins of the universe, and would again in Castrovalva (TV story), but hardly proof).
- The whole Nelly is an elephant thing at the end of the story. (I'm reminded vaguely of the whole 'teapot orbiting the sun thing, belief vs fact etc. (Again you'd need to do some intuitive hurdling to get from there somewhere else, and if anything because Davros believes in Nelly being pink (or whatever) wouldn't that make him a believer?)
- Davros and the Doctor are both scientists (there are plenty of scientists who also believe in something or whatever). Davros (I think speaks of evolution, though again that doesn't mean he's an atheist, nor should it be taken as an admission that he is).

Since the question was asked on February and no-one has come up with a definite, convincing answer, I've decided to Be Bold and delete that line. Hope this is OK? solar penguin/(talk)/(contribs) 18:09, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Episodes or Parts
This maybe somewhat tedious, but here the episode is listed as being in 'Parts' and I believe all stories after Spearhead from Space were. However looking at the DVD each installment in labbelled as Episode One etc. Which one is it? Taccer 07 21:15, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- I seem to recall that, for some reason that onscreen Destiny has "episodes" instead of "parts".
- Yes, this particular story labeled them as "Episode 1", etc, rather than the usual "Part 1", etc. Spreee 18:39, November 26, 2009 (UTC)Spreee
