Nicely done!  These are definitely good changes.  As for a new name for discontinuities, how about [[Untempered Schism]]? [[User:Rob T Firefly|Rob T Firefly]] 06:31, May 20, 2011 (UTC)

IndexTech notes → Howling its own namespace
Spoilers are strongly policed here.
If this thread's title doesn't specify it's spoilery, don't bring any up.
Howling separated from other forums; threads now have name: "Howling:Thread name"

Because there have been several people concerned about getting spoiled from comments made in The Howling, I've tried to take what technical steps I can to balance the needs of people who don't mind spoilers against those who really, really do. Upgrades to the forum software are not possible at this time, so we're forced to work with what we can. Two major things are therefore afoot.

  1. All discontinuity discussions have been moved from the Howling and put into their own forum, the forum:discontinuity index. The basic structure of this new forum has been laid down, but there's a still a little work to be done with the bot to get the thread lists populated properly.
  2. The Howling will soon no longer be located at Howling:The Howling but Howling:The Howling. That is, it's in an entirely different namespace to our other fora. This means when you're searching the forums, you won't get any results from The Howling. It also means you can permanently disable searching in the Howling from your account management screens. It's hoped that this move will greatly reduce the possibility of accidental exposure to any spoilery content from The Howling. On the other side of the aisle, people who want to engaged in fully spoiled speculation can now feel more secure in speaking their minds.

If you have any comments about these changes — especially if you have a better name than "discontinuity index" — do feel free to leave them below.
