Can't help but notice that your round of uploads from ''Closing Time'' all have a bit of a funky dimension problem.  They're all in 4:3 aspect ratio.  This means you've taken the normal 16:9 or 16:10 that the picture is in, and you've somehow jammed it into a 4:3 box, resulting in an unacceptably compressed space.  You'll need to check the settings of either your screen capture or image editing software.  Something's come undone there.

Unfortunately, this means I must delete all your recent contributions.  Please don't submit new screencaps until you can get the problem sorted.  I wish I could give you a simple reason why your pictures are screwing up, but there are several possible causes.  You haven't always submitted pictures with this issue, so perhaps in your rush to upload this latest round, you simply didn't notice the problem.  In any event, I do hope you get it fixed, because you've contributed some nice art in the past.  {{user:CzechOut/Sig}}&nbsp;<span style="{{User:CzechOut/TimeFormat}}">23:39: Thu&nbsp;29 Sep 2011&nbsp;</span>

Another thing that caused me to delete a few of your pictures today was the obvious BBC watermark on the upper left-hand corner.  I know you will find occasional examples of this around here, especially amongst ''K8'' series pictures, but we generally try to crop those out.  {{user:CzechOut/Sig}}&nbsp;<span style="{{User:CzechOut/TimeFormat}}">00:03: Fri&nbsp;30 Sep 2011&nbsp;</span>

As you can see, the image on the right is lacking in, well, humanity. Are you doing something to the images before you upload them? I can't imagine a program that could distort an image like that without you noticing.--{{User:Skittles the hog/sig}} 15:16, October 2, 2011 (UTC)

I've protected the page for 2 weeks. It appears to be a small handful of active IP editors. I want to see if locking it down for 2 weeks is enough of a deterrent. If they return and continue to edit the pages then we'll look to further actions. Very few of our pages are locked against editing and I'd like to keep it that way. I'm unsure if blocking the IP editors will be useful given there's at least 2 editors who have been making similar edits. Thanks. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 14:40, July 25, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

DVD covers

Hi, before uploading Doctor Who DVD covers images please check the Doctor Who DVD covers/Region 2 gallery as there may already be a cover that is already in use and has been correctly tagged with a copyright tag. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 16:55, August 12, 2010 (UTC)

Spoilers

Please do not add spoilers to pages which do not have the spoiler tag. This includes adding future appearances to character pages. The Thirteenth Doctor 12:23, September 25, 2010 (UTC)

Delete

When a page is up for deletion you do not remove the delete tag, nor do you wipe the page. That is how we end up with articles that have no content. The Thirteenth Doctor 19:55, October 18, 2010 (UTC)

Images

Please do not upload low quality images. Also, do not overwrite useful images. On another topic, do not add unrelated info to pages. The Terileptil reference belongs on the species page, not the episode.--Skittles the hog--Talk 19:18, February 11, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Pictures such as the one you added to the Third Doctor page are out-of-universe and so are not to be used on in-universe pages. Thanks----Skittles the hog--Talk 16:06, May 12, 2011 (UTC)

.jpg is the preferred file extension on this wiki. It's a new policy so you were unlikely to be aware of it. However, I did not intend to revert your edit to Eleventh Doctor, but I had to change it back as someone had changed the tense. Thanks----Skittles the hog--Talk 17:44, May 31, 2011 (UTC)

Can you please upload images which are good quality. Thank-you. BroadcastCorp (talk | contribs) 14:10, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

Locking pages

Just a note, if you want a page to be locked, then you need to contact an admin and they will do it for you. Simply placing the lock tag on the page will not actually lock the page unless it was placed on the page by an admin. Thankfully your attempt to lock the page alerted me to Porge's activity and I have blocked him from editing for a month. --Revan\Talk 13:56, June 3, 2011 (UTC)

How do you do that?

You have to be an admin to both lock pages and block users from editing. Also, please remember to sign your comments. --Revan\Talk 14:09, June 3, 2011 (UTC)

Your Let's Kill Hitler image

I've reverted it. What was wrong with my image? Nothing. What was wrong with yours? Everything! It was ugly quality and did not explain the episode well. Do not do this again, I'm warning you. BroadcastCorp (talk | contribs) 18:29, September 1, 2011 (UTC)

Please ignore the remarks above. I don't know what's the User is warning you for, but anyway you do upload some really good images. I would ask you continue to upload your images, and if they are not that good a quality to be used in the infobox, I would certainly add them to the article. Thanks. MM/Want to talk? 12:14, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

Okay, I was in a bad mood then. Ignore what I said. But you don't really upload good images, most of them are squashed and low-quality. My one wasn't. Mine was HD and divine. BroadcastCorp (talk | contribs) 14:09, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

Good work

Just wanted to say thanks for your recent image contributions. They have been superb. Keep up the good work!--Skittles the hog - talk 14:13, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

What about my images? BroadcastCorp (talk | contribs) 14:19, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry

I am so so so sorry about what I said to you. I am very sorry so much, I have to say loads of times. I was being stupid and irresponsible and hostile and idiotic to you, and I apologise. Please, I don't want you to dislike me, and I don't want over users too. Please reassure them that I'm a nice guy, nota horrible one. Please. BroadcastCorp (talk | contribs) 15:52, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

Your images

Your images are great now! Keep up the brilliant work! BroadcastCorp (talk | contribs) 08:38, September 4, 2011 (UTC)

That's okay, buddy. Here's a tip with images:

  • Go onto BBC iPlayer
  • Type in "doctor who"
  • Pick which episode you want.
  • Choose which quality you want, HD or normal.
  • Use the bar at the bottom and move it to where you guess you want a screencap from.
  • Pause it.
  • Make sure it's what you want.
  • Go to Full Screen
  • Press "Print Screen" on your computer.
  • Insert it into an application (e.g. PowerPoint)
  • Shrink the image (as that was User:CzechOut wants)
  • Paste that into Paint.
  • Save it as .JPG image.
  • Then upload it to the wiki!

That's exactly what I do, and I feel my screenshots are talent. So, do this, and you'd (not that you aren't now) be a talent screenshoter like me and User:Skittles the hog who also has this talent, as are many others. You can also be a brilliant person at adding an image, because you aren't a nasty- (I'll stop there before it gets out of hand) vandalising vandal.

We tend to use screenshots instead of portrait straight-cropped images, as that's just the policy. It can be done once in a while, but isn't encouraged.

When you're getting images off BBC iPlayer, try not to chop of the BBC insignia, as it just chops a bit of the screen. Leave it as it is, and when you get the DVD you can re-upload the image without the insignia.

So there you go. Be magnificent. BroadcastCorp (talk | contribs) 09:07, September 4, 2011 (UTC)

Your recent pictures have been . . . squished

Can't help but notice that your round of uploads from Closing Time all have a bit of a funky dimension problem.

Jo and other pics

That was more of a statement that a question, but I'll reply anyway. I gave a reason when I reverted the image itself, so I felt no need to repeat myself. The problem I had with that image, and the one at Fourth Doctor, was the proportion.

As you can see, the image on the right is lacking in, well, humanity. Are you doing something to the images before you upload them? I can't imagine a program that could distort an image like that without you noticing.--Skittles the hog - talk 15:16, October 2, 2011 (UTC)
