Rheon Carbines were the standard [[Sontaran]] Side-arm from at least [[2370]]. Rheon Carbines were wand-like weapons that emitted charged particles to kill their enemies. The weapon also had some capacity to penetrate armor. The carbine could be set to stun as well as kill. A safety catch was set into the butt of the weapon to prevent the carbine from being accidentally discharged. The [[Rutan Host]] could resist the effects of a single weapon's fire for a certain amount of time, but multiple bursts would defeat the Rutan's defenses. The Sontaran baton was a device of Sontaran design which was carried by certain high ranking members of the Sontaran Empire.

These long black coloured baton rods were capable of firing an orange beam that was able to stun a target. Furthermore, they were able to repair minor damage to Sontaran technology such as the Teleport pod.

General Staal of the Tenth Sontaran Battle Fleet carried a baton. (DW: The Sontaran Strategem / The Poison Sky)
