I've been working my way through a lot of the old series, but I definitely prefer the new series. I feel like the old series often tends to drag, and doesn't have the kind of character development of the new show. It's more traditional science fiction where the characters are just there to serve the plot, which just isn't my cup of tea. (Especially since Doctor Who is maybe a 1.75 on the [[http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MohsScaleOfScienceFictionHardness Mohs Scale of Science Fiction Hardness]]—though I'm sure some would disagree.)

I'm a recent convert to Who. I only got started relatively recently, but I'm now a huge fan and have introduced several people to Who.
