Lady Madge Cranleigh was the mother of George and Charles Cranleigh. She loved her sons dearly and did not want bad publicity for her family. When George was brought back from his last expedition horribly scarred and insane, she had him confined to the upper floors of the house under the guardianship of the Indian who had brought him back home. She was willing to let the Fifth Doctor take the blame for George's murders, but George was found when he kidnapped Nyssa instead of Ann. She regretted her actions when her lies resulted in her son's death. (TV: Black Orchid)
