Mighty Joe Young was a movie from 20th century Earth. In fact, though, several quiz-goers — including the Seventh Doctor and Jason Kane — disagreed with this assessment. They insisted Kong had no sequel. (PROSE: Happy Endings)
Behind the scenes
The reason Mighty Joe Young is sometimes confused as a sequel to King Kong is that it, too, deals with a giant gorilla transplanted from its natural environment to the United States. Also, the same people worked on the special effects in both movies, giving them a similar look. However, this is not a sequel to King. The film's sequel is in actuality The Son of Kong.
