Doctor Wolffson was one of the guests invited to Mr R's house to witness an attempt to contact another plane. He and Doctor Parsons invited Edgar Allan Poe to the gathering.
Wolffson and the other guests were made immobile when an evil entity possessed Abigail. They were freed when the First Doctor and Poe destroyed the skull. (PROSE: The True and Indisputable Facts in the Matter of the Ram's Skull)
