Freedonia was a fictional nation primarily associated with Martha Jones. The Tenth Doctor once told William Shakespeare that Martha Jones was a citizen of the nation of "Freedonia" to explain away her differences from the women of Shakespeare's acquaintance. (TV: The Shakespeare Code) Later, while visiting the Lake District in September 1909, Martha again claimed to be from Freedonia. (PROSE: Sting of the Zygons)
