The Milice were the paramilitary arm of the Vichy government in World War II (southern) France. They were, essentially, the "French Gestapo". Polly, Ben, Jamie McCrimmon, the Second Doctor and members of the French resistance had to be extremely wary of the Milice when travelling in France in early 1944. (AUDIO: Resistance)
