- 20 January - TV: The Three Doctors Episode Four was first broadcast. This was the final television appearance of William Hartnell. This episode ended the Third Doctor's exile on Earth and marked the beginning of the end of the UNIT era of the series, although UNIT continued to play a role for several more seasons.
