Yanis was the leader of a group of Egyptian mercenaries that he had raised in about 14,000 BC in order to disrupt the succession between Pharaohs Amenhotep II and Erimem. A cruel leader, he preferred to achieve his troops' obedience through fear than respect, passion or any other cause.
He allied himself with the priest Horemshep, who was using a gestalt entity he had found in a stasis box in order to possess people and effect an alternate line of succession. Eventually, the entity help Horemshep convince Fayum that he was a hitherto unrevealed son of Amenhotep, and Yanis used his infantry to besiege Thebes and force a final confrontation with Eriemem and her forces. During the siege, Kishik was one of his key lieutenants.
After the status box entity was defeated, and Fayum returned to his natural condition of supporting Erimem, he challenged Yanis to personal combat — and won. (AUDIO: The Eye of the Scorpion)
