William Leaf was a resident of London. He was a Protestant. George Crow and he were members of Reverend Thomas Smith's plot to remove Queen Mary I from power in 1555. They were arrested and imprisoned in the Tower of London, but were rescued by the Sixth Doctor, who took them to one of the safe Protestant cities, where they would stay in exile until Mary's death in 1558.
