In March 1616, Sir Walter Raleigh was released from the Tower of London and arranged for William Shakespeare to be poisoned.

In April, Shakespeare died in Stratford-upon-Avon. The Time Lord Irving Braxiatel visited the playwright on his deathbed and restored the Englishman's memories of his time in Venice in 1609. (PROSE: The Empire of Glass)

Behind the scenes

In reality, Shakespeare died in April 1616 only according to the Julian calendar — not the Gregorian calendar which is in present use in most western societies.
