The phone operator was an employee of the Ministry of Defence. She answered Tobias Vaughn's call when he contacted Major-General Rutlidge. When she informed Rutlidge of the call, he told her to patch Vaughn through and put the call on priority scramble. After the Brigadier had visited Rutlidge, he told the phone operator to put him in touch with Vaughn and again scramble the call. (TV: The Invasion)
