Volan Sleed was the leader of the family of the Iron sun. He abducted Bernice Summerfield on her arrival to the Station Control. He then promoted Jason Kane to a position of responsibility. He hoped that Jason and Benny would find out anything about the disappearance of Mora di Vasht. In fact he was the responsible for it, as he had managed to persuade Mora's bodyguard Suzi II to kidnap her. He never missed a meeting of the clans.
