The Bandits were huge, savage creatures that ran amok throughout the town of Dustville every noon, causing damage and stealing supplies. The bandits were composed of living crystals and hid in the wastes outside the town. The heat from the twin suns created a chemical change that brought the bandits to life for short periods of time. When they refused to live peacefully alongside the settlers the Tenth Doctor (with Ben McGill's help), took away their physical form using rain (created by atmospheric excitation). Once reduced to puddles, the bandits were collected up in buckets and relocated to a new home by the Doctor using the TARDIS. (COMIC: Mudshock)
