The Archaeons were an ancient race of glob-like beings that lived on the Moon. They were seeding the Earth with life about 450,000,000 BC, using a large cannon that shot red lightning. After escaping Gallifrey in a stolen TARDIS, the First Doctor and Susan (with unintentional stowaway Stoyn) arrived on the Moon during the seeding process. When the Archaeons try to disassemble the TARDIS, they unintentionally created a stasis field which froze them all until human explorers from the Giant Leap Base freed them millions of years later.
