The Teller was a large telepathic creature with two eye stalks on either side of its head. It was able to sense guilt and liquefy a human's brain through its telepathic capability.
It was the last male of its species, and was forced to work under Karabraxos and her clones at the Bank of Karabraxos while its female counterpart was locked in the bank's private vault. Just before the place was destroyed by a solar storm, after nearly everyone else had fled the bank, the Teller freed his mate and the Twelfth Doctor dropped them off together on a distant planet.
