The Earl of Leicester was a knight who served under King Richard I of England during the Crusades. In 1190, he opposed the King's plan to make peace with the Saracens. He suspected the First Doctor of collaborating with the Saracens and almost had him executed until Ian Chesterton rescued him. (TV: The Crusade)
