New Hampshire was a state in the New England region of the United States of America. The Fourth Doctor once took Leela there to allow her to spend time with Native Americans. However, he got the time co-ordinates wrong, and they ended up in a New Hampshire that was experiencing a blizzard some time close to the turn of the 21st century. After finding shelter from the blizzard, the Doctor and Leela got embroiled in an adventure that centred on Melvin Village, a touristy hamlet on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee, near the town of Winnipesaukee.

Some of the known features of New Hampshire included Mount Washington, the state's highest peak, and a cog railway that serviced the observatory atop Mount Washington. Pease Air Force Base was also located in the state. Its roads included I-93. (PROSE: Drift)
