Gansu was the brother of Chan Chiu and the father of Li.
Unlike his brother and son, Gansu had never encountered the Doctor but knew that aliens existed. He began investigating the many disappearances connected to the legendary Stone Monkey. As Chan Chiu had decided not to get involved in defending China against the Stone Monkey, Gansu went to fight alone. He was kidnapped by warriors under the Stone Monkey's command.
