Originally Science Officer on a spaceship, the Hydrax, O'Connor (eventually Aukon), along with two other officers, ruled the planet he landed on through keeping the population in a constant fear of the Wasting as advisor to Zargo and Camilla. Achieving immortality through a race known as the Great Vampires, over the years O'Connor became known as "Aukon". Aukon eventually died when the Doctor launched one of the shuttles into the heart of the Great Vampire, causing Aukon, Zargo, and Camilla to lose their immortality, subsequently ageing to death.
