Edgar Nelson-Stanley was a human archaeologist. He was the husband of Bea Nelson-Stanley. At one time he had encountered Sontarans. He thought that they were "the silliest race in the galaxy". (TV: Eye of the Gorgon)

In 1953 he discovered a Vondraxian orb in the Arctic. It was shipped to Cardiff for analysis by Torchwood Three. (PROSE: Trace Memory)
