Paterson Joseph (born 22 June 1964) played Rodrick in the Doctor Who television stories Bad Wolf and The Parting of the Ways. Prior to this, he had played Marquis de Carrabas, a rogueish character from the Neverwhere television series frequently compared to the Doctor. Following David Tennant's statement that he would retire from playing the part, he was widely considered the most probable candidate for the role of the Eleventh Doctor before the announcement that the role would go to young Matt Smith. He also voiced Victor Espinosa in the Big Finish Doctor Who audio story Earth Aid.
He appeared opposite Peter Capaldi in the 1996 TV mini-series Neverwhere.
He appears alongside Christopher Eccleston in the 2015 ITV drama Safe House.
