Tim Barlow (born 18 January 1936[1] as Michael John Leigh Barlow) played Tyssan in the Doctor Who story Destiny of the Daleks. He was profoundly deaf at the time of filming, the result of an incident with a rifle during his army service; his deafness was thought to be permanent. However, in 2008, he received a cochlear implant, allowing him to hear again.
He has appeared in films such as The Tall Guy with Jeff Goldblum ( playing a blind man) and Hot Fuzz with Simon Pegg. Barlow has written and performed in autobiographical one-man shows such as My Army, about his experience in the military in the 1960s.
