Psilocybe mexicana were hallucinogenic mushrooms known to the Aztecs as teonanacatl or "the flesh of the gods". They contained 4-Phosphoryloxy-NN-dimethyltryptamine. They were fawn coloured with a long thin stem. They were easily available in Tenochtitlan in 1487.
