Timeline for 2059
21st century | 2050s

2053 • 2054 • 2056 • 2057 • 2058 • 2060 • 2061 • 2062 • 2063 • 2064 • 2065

2059 was a year of great importance to the Doctor, Rani Chandra, and human space travel, perhaps even the entire universe.

On 21 November, the Tenth Doctor, travelling randomly, arrived on Mars. Bowie Base One, the first long-term human outpost on Mars, was destroyed seventeen months into its mission. An attempted invasion by the Flood forced commanding officer Captain Adelaide Brooke to trigger a nuclear self-destruct device. Brooke, along with crewmembers Yuri Kerenski and Mia Bennett, were rescued by the Doctor, who violated the Laws of Time in doing so, as the death of Adelaide Brooke was a fixed point in time. Although Kerenski and Bennett returned to their lives on Earth, Brooke committed suicide on being returned to Earth. Immediately thereafter, the Doctor saw an omen of Ood Sigma, but flew off in the TARDIS. (TV: The Waters of Mars)

At some point after 21 November, Yuri Kerenski and Mia Bennett talked to the media about their escape from Mars, which resulted in media attention being given to an almost mythical "Doctor." (TV: The Waters of Mars)

The Tenth Doctor spent some time with the Flisk Armada aboard the medical frigate Tahala. (PROSE: Snowglobe 7)

Climate change and oil shortages had disastrous effects on the UK. (TV: The Waters of Mars)

Rani Chandra's "natural" timeline was restored. Her life changed from being a lonely figure in the attic of 13 Bannerman Road to being its sociable occupant with a wide circle of family and friends. For reasons unclear, she had either bought or inherited Sarah Jane Smith's house. In this year, she and Luke Smith visited Maria Jackson in America. (TV: The Mad Woman in the Attic)

The Mandela left Earth with its colonists. (PROSE: Heritage)

Alternate timelines

Rani Chandra, now the mad woman of Bannerman Road, told the story of how she met Eve to Adam Lloyd. He overwrote this version of history. (TV: The Mad Woman in the Attic)

Prior to the Tenth Doctor's interference, Earth history recorded that Bowie Base One was destroyed on Mars on 21 November with the loss of all hands, including Captain Adelaide Brooke, Yuri Kerenski and Mia Bennett. (TV: The Waters of Mars)
