Monsieur Bruyère lived in Paris with his wife and Pierre, his son. He and his wife owned and worked in their bakery in Paris.

In 1868, when his son was six, he became aware of his son's constant dreams of pure whiteness. In order to understand more, he took his son to a doctor who dismissed them as being "just dreams".

When his son was 15 years of age, he and his wife took him to an exhibition in Paris displaying works of the Arctic, which made his son adamant to become an Arctic explorer. His son's dreams eventually became a reality. However, this timeline had to be rewritten and the new timeline saw his son become a baker at the family bakery. (PROSE: The Frozen Wastes)
