Lamy was a town that served as a minor transportation hub in the state of New Mexico. During World War II, the Seventh Doctor and Ace were forced to travel conventionally. They took the train from Chicago to Lamy, the train station nearest Los Alamos. From there, they continued on their journey by bus. They left the TARDIS, which had been carried on the train as freight, at Lamy, until their business at Los Alamos was concluded. The Doctor felt that Lamy was as close a "parking spot" to Los Alamos as he could risk, without arousing the curiosity of the United States military. (PROSE: Atom Bomb Blues)
