A goblet was found by Maurice Bernard on an archaeological dig on Ilyas Ada. It was in fact the propulsion unit for a Krivani ship. It was capable of releasing great amounts of energy. It destroyed the dig site where it was found.
Bernard was killed by British agents who took the goblet. The Seventh Doctor and Ace tracked the goblet to Constantinople in 1914. The Doctor retrieved the goblet, intending to take it safely away from Earth, but was forced to participate in a hostage exchange with the British agents, Underwood and Fenton. They took the goblet and ran off, pursued by the Doctor and Gerold Rösler. When Rösler shot at them, he hit the goblet, causing it to release a burst of energy that incinerated Underwood and Fenton.
The Doctor took the goblet in his TARDIS and threw it into the Time Vortex. (PROSE: Ante Bellum)
