Frey in Norse mythology was an important god of the Vikings. In Old Norse, "Frey" meant master; the Third Doctor and Jo Grant found out when meeting Odin, Thor and other gods of Norse mythology that Frey was actually the Master, who was out to get Gungnir, Odin's time-controlling spear, in the Sweden of the year 141.
