NOTDWU?[[edit source]]

Why is this NOTDWU? Klisz 09:02, December 4, 2013 (UTC)

It's non-narrative. You can use any selection of characters, including having the Tenth Doctor fight in 11's place.  Digifiend  Talk  PR/SS  KR  MH  Toku  JD  Garo  TH  CG  UM  Logos  CLG  DW  13:03,4/12/2013
I'm way late, and kinda new to this wiki, but I'd argue that it is narrative. The dialogue in the game makes it clear that all the characters are there at once, and the player simply chooses characters for the gameplay itself since having everyone fighting at once would be unwieldy. I think it would be fair to say that the narrative elements of the game (the Sontarans damaging time, the Master doing his thing, the Doctor collecting his past incarnations and companions) really did happen, since those things aren't affected by anything the player does. Going by what Digifiend says above, you can play as either the Tenth or Eleventh Doctor. Therefore, the story for each user's game experience will be different. That puts this game into the same group as stage plays, Decide Your Destiny and similar books and in-universe websites. Content that changes from day to day or from user to user doesn't make for a narrative story, by this wiki's definitions. Shambala108 18:01, August 28, 2014 (UTC)
You can swap out basically all the characters for one another, but that only affects the gem-matching part of the game which doesn't contribute to the narrative at all, and in "reality" everyone is there at once; characters not in your party still talk, for example. I'd say the game is as narrative as any other, but I'm not an expert on this wiki's specific policies so I'm not going to fight the case too much, I just think it's worth reconsidering dendodge 18:10, August 28, 2014 (UTC)

I do thing the story is consistent enough to count under this wiki's policies. In fact, the story is identical, regardless of which characters are in your team or how many times you fail a level. While the narrative elements aren't as strong in the early chapters, by late chapter three there is a very distinct story line about the various Doctors and allies fighting against various incarnations of the Master. The parts of the game which give the story line, the text when certain levels are begun, finished, or even certain waves of enemies are destroyed, are always the same regardless of who is on your team, how many allies you've collected, which Doctor you're playing with, or how many times you've played a level. The story therefore does not change between users. The game play does change obviously by how and how easily enemies are destroyed, based on character choices and player skill, but that's the non-narrative part which is irrelevant. The enemies themselves stay the same between playings of levels and, to be honest, are only occasionally relevant to the plot line. While the story behind DW:Legacy I think is pretty clearly not in the normal timeline of events, I think it's safe to say that it is an alternate timeline with a story which falls perfectly within this wiki's inclusion policies. Based on the discussion above, I'm removing the NOTDWU tags. --Pluto2 (talk) 03:00, November 18, 2016 (UTC)
Several forum decisions have ruled this invalid, specifically Thread:161867 and Thread:186659. Also, individual users never get to decide important matters on their own. That's what discussions are for. Shambala108 03:10, November 18, 2016 (UTC)
