Tim Barlow (born Michael John Leigh Barlow) played Tyssan in the Doctor Who story Destiny of the Daleks. He was profoundly deaf at the time of filming, the result of an incident with a rifle during his army service; his deafness was thought to be permanent. However, in 2008, he received a cochlear implant, allowing him to hear again.
