- You may be looking for the Seventh Doctor's companion, see Chris Cwej.
A Cwej (plural Cwejen) was a clone of Chris Cwej created by the Time Lords for "military matters".
The Cwejen did not retain the conscious memories of their progenitor, but they were affected by his memories on an unconscious level. Some of the Cwejen went mad and began secretly worshiping a figure they called "the pale god" or "Mister Seven".
Several Cwejen aided the Time Lord Straxus on a mission to 19th century Earth. One of these, who adopted the name Septimus from a human, began committing strange crimes themed with the number seven in an attempt to draw the attention of "Mister Seven". (AUDIO: The Adventure of the Diogenes Damsel)
Behind the scenes
Although Chris Cwej originated in the Doctor Who New Adventures novels, the notion that the Time Lords made multiple copies of him, and the name "Cwejen" for these copies, originate in the Faction Paradox series, which is outside the scope of this wiki. The appearance of Cwejen in The Adventure of the Diogenes Damsel is a rare instance of an idea returning from the Faction Paradox series to the Doctor Who universe.
