Danny Fairweather carried the Olympic Torch through Dame Kelly Holmes Close on 27 July 2012 near the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games. Huw Edwards, reporting this, found it "very fitting".

As Fairweather walked past with a police officer on motorbike guarding him, Rose Tyler threw the Isolus pod towards the flame, and the space pod followed him and the torch all the way to the lighting of the cauldron. There, it recharged with a combination of heat and love from all those watching, and allowed a young Isolus to leave Earth, thereby saving the planet from certain demise. (TV: Fear Her)
