Matteo Bandello was a writer who wrote the original version of a story which would later be adapted into Of Appolonius and Silla by Barnabe Rich and by extension Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare. By the time of his fifth incarnation, the Doctor had encountered Bandello. The Fifth Doctor later remarked that Bandello had "dreadful table manners. (PROSE: Diary Extract)
