What's the name of the site/project?

Hey! I just noticed: on the front page and the Manual of Style, the site is referred to as TARDIS Index File, but on the main Help page and Help:Editing it's called TARDIS Information System. Which is the site's name? --Josiah Rowe 05:51, 23 Feb 2005 (GMT)

Founder here. When I posted announcements about the site to some of the Doctor Who newsgroups and discussion forums, a few people asked if the correct name for the database shouldn't be "Index File," since that's what Tegan and Nyssa were looking for when they got the screen reading, "TARDIS Information System - Ready for Entry" to come up. I decided either term would be correct, but "TARDIS Index File" would be a much less cumbersome one. My apologies for not announcing this change beforehand. So, yes, the name is now TARDIS Index File. That said, if you come across a page I missed, which still gives the site name as TARDIS Information System, please feel free to change it. Wikipedia Doctor Who

Just so you knowWikiProject Doctor Who on Wikipedia has a Doctor Who section which seems to contain more content than this wiki. You might like to add to that rather than add to this and waste hard work because something already exists. To browse through the articles go to Category:Doctor Who.

Um, we are aware of the existence of the Doctor Who articles on Wikipedia, thank you. And it only has more content because it has been around longer. This site is not attempting to copy or replace that category, but to compliment it, just as Memory Alpha compliments the Star Trek category on Wikipedia, rather than attempts to copy or replace it. Further, articles on this site are supposed to be written from a point of view of the Doctor Who universe, presenting the topics as they would appear if accessed by someone inhabiting that universe, - i.e., presenting them as if they were real, so to say we are "wasting hard work because something already exists" is not accurate, as the articles have a completely different POV. I will also point out that making a post such as yours from an anonymous IP address, without bothering to register, makes your comments seem less like helpful or constructive criticism and more like a rude and derogatory swipe. Since you are obviously not interested in contributing anything positive to this project, perhaps it's best that you simply stay away.
