Mark Clapham started out writing Doctor Who fan fiction but graduated to professional writing with Beige Planet Mars, which he co-wrote with long term mentor Lance Parkin. Clapham later also co-wrote Twilight of the Gods with Jon de Burgh Miller and — for the BBC — The Taking of Planet 5 with Simon Bucher-Jones. Later on he wrote his first solo novel, Hope, for the BBC.
In 2009, he returned to the world of Benny when he edited Secret Histories. He also contributed a short story to the Iris Wildthyme collection, The Panda Book of Horror.
