Andy Lane has written several novels. Notable ones include All-Consuming Fire, which includes a meeting of the Doctor and Sherlock Holmes and Original Sin, which introduces two new companions, Chris Cwej and Roz Forrester.

Prior to Lucifer Rising he had submitted several ideas including one "called Bodyshock, and started out when the Seventh Doctor and Ace woke up in the bodies of giant lobsters separated by millions of years on an alien planet". Peter Darvill-Evans rejected it as he felt it was "too weird".[1]
