I noticed that jack and jabe have quite a few similarities. Whether or not this is intentional or coincidental I don't know.

1. Both have names with four letters and both start with J.

2. Both are from years that start with a 5, jack from 51st century and jabe from the year 5 billion.

3. Both have technological devices. Jack has vortex manipulator and jabe has her scanner. Both items can scan and provide species designations.

4. Both are aware of the time war.

5. Both originally met the ninth doctor.

6. Both are connected to Earth in some way. Jabe's ancestors are from the amazon rainforest. Jack is a human from earth's future.

7. Both have died whilst helping the doctor. Jabe burned to help the doctor restore platform ones shields whereas jack died whilst fighting the daleks. (Even though he came back to life.)

There are probably more but can't think of any more at this moment. --Coop3 01:39, January 2, 2014 (UTC)

Thought of another two.

8. Both cared for the doctor and helped him as a companion.

9. Both met Rose and the doctor when the main enemy was an altered human. For jabe it was Cassandra and for jack it was the empty child plague.

Now that I look and see I found nine points, this is really bloody weird and makes my head hurt. How and why is there so many similarities?! --Coop3 23:03, January 18, 2014 (UTC)

Similarities between the Master and The Daleks

1.They are both evil

2. They are both recurring characters

3. They are both merciless

4. They both want to kill the doctor

The Daleks and the Master must be one and the same.

Okay, back to reality, similarities mean nothing. They are just coincidence... most of the time.At least with this one. Afro Circus Afro Circus Afro Polka Polka Dot Afro! 15:25, January 19, 2014 (UTC)

Okay, then how bout this. Point 10. They both first appeared in series 1. No need to make fun of me, just wanted to see what others thought of all these similarities. I understand that some characters may have some similarities but surely not 10. --Coop3 17:25, January 19, 2014 (UTC)

Wasn't making fun, I just don't understand your logic or the point you are trying to make. Afro Circus Afro Circus Afro Polka Polka Dot Afro! 19:51, January 19, 2014 (UTC)

Magic Afro: Your point 3: Many characters (including the Doctor, whose sonic screwdriver does this) have devices with such scanning abilities. It's such a useful thing to be able to do that almost any society with (a) a sufficient level of technology & (b) contact with alien species (i.e., alien to them) would develop devices to do it. Think how many sf stories/series have something extremely like a tricorder! Not coincidence, just a very, very, very obvious idea.

Your points 1 & 2 are no better. With names & numbers, if you look hard enough for coincidences you will find them. Always. Not those particular coincidences, maybe, but some coincidences, certainly. "Jabe" & "Rose" both have 4 letters but only 3 sounds. Both consist of consonent-vowel-consonent-vowel. Both end with a silent "e". Also, Jabe is a plant, Rose is named after a plant.

A connection to Earth (point 6) is commonplace. Billions of people have that. Even among those who've met the Doctor, it's not exactly a rarity.

As for your point 7: Watch Journey's End. In that, Davros has no trouble showing a pretty long succession of people who "have died whilst helping the Doctor" -- & he missed out many more than he included.

The most significant thing about your list is that it consists entirely of things that are true also of a large number of other characters in the show. Not one item is genuinely unusual, never mind close to being unique. It is, in fact, the kind of list that could be constructed for a vast number of pairs of characters who've encountered the Doctor. The items would differ but they'd be similar in nature & in number. --89.243.204.145talk to me 01:16, January 25, 2014 (UTC)

If you want something to wrap your brain around, go watch episode 7 of Miracle Day ("Immortal Sins") then "Turn Left" from season 4 of the relaunched DW series. 72.177.169.170talk to me 04:54, January 25, 2014 (UTC)
