Ganymede Systems was the energy corporation that existed in the far future. One of the resources they mined and sold was copper ore mined from an asteroid by the station Chasm Forge. They manufactured technology and equipment such as the smart suits used by their workers on Chasm Forge. They charged credits for oxygen.
Ganymede Systems didn't value human life over productivity. Thus when a mining station was not producing enough, they reprogrammed the smart suits to terminate the organic components.
