The Tattooed Man was a member of the Night Travellers who was covered in tattoos. When film and cinema killed off the travelling shows, he was trapped on film with the other Night Travellers until the 21st century, when he was freed by Pearl and the Ghostmaker. Jack Harkness then filmed the released Night Travellers on a film camera and exposed the untreated film to sunlight, destroying them.
